The Chakdaha College Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) has undertaken several innovative programs and initiatives to promote electoral literacy and civic engagement. These include:

Voluntary Contribution: ELC encourages students to actively participate in the electoral process. This includes volunteering for various election-related activities.

Voter Awareness Campaigns: The club conducts voter awareness campaigns to educate people about the importance of voting, the electoral system, and their rights and responsibilities as voters.

Promotion of Ethical Voting: ELC emphasizes the significance of ethical voting and works to eliminate malpractices in the electoral system. They strive to create a culture of fair and transparent elections.

  1. On June 24, 2023, Chakdaha College's Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) proudly launched the ELC Wall magazine (ELC WALL) in the presence of Hon'ble Principal Dr. Swagata Das Mahanta and IQAC Coordinator Dr. Arun Kumar Nandi. They emphasized the ELC's vital role in promoting electoral literacy. Club members adorned the ELC Wall with informative content on the Indian Election System, voting processes, and regulations. Nodal Officers Mr. Sanjit Kumar Biswas and Arindam Debnath supervised the project, ensuring its educational value. Additionally, they educated those without voter cards on the importance of voting. This initiative fosters informed and responsible citizenship at Chakdaha College
  2. Constitution Day was celebrated on November 26th, a tribute to India's legal backbone in 2022, in collaboration with IQAC, Chakdaha College. Our esteemed Principal, Dr. Swagata DasMohanta, inaugurated the event by honouring the National Flag and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the Constitution's Chief Architect. Dr. Das Mohanta emphasized the Constitution's significance in a sovereign nation and congratulated the Electoral Literacy Club members. Dipanjan Das, an ELC member, recited the Indian Constitution's Preamble, followed by Mr. Nihar Kanti Baidya, Head of the Department of Political Science, who discussed the Constitution's making and the contributions of key figures like Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Patel, and Rajendra Prasad. The celebration featured a patriotic song by ELC member, Bedesha Khan and a recitation of Dwijendralal Roy's poem by Debasish Dutta. Faculty members, including Dr. Anjan Sengupta (HOD, Botany Department), Sri Mithun Sarkar (HOD, Philosophy Department), Sri Abhishek Chowdhury (HOD, English Department), and others, joined the event. Dr. Arun Kumar Nandi, IQAC Coordinator, emphasized the importance of such celebrations in fostering awareness of constitutional values among students and citizens. The program concluded with the National Anthem.
  3. National Voters Day celebrated on January 25, 2022, focusing on making elections more inclusive, accessible, and participatory. The event aimed to encourage voter registration and strengthen democracy through various activities, enlightening students about the significance of voter's day.
